A big thank you to everyone who attended #OpenThePaths 2023!
The 2023 Open the Paths mini Conference brought together accessibility & equity specialists, transportation planners, and GIS technologists from across the country to discuss multimodal accessibility-first transportation data.
Over two days, 8 total sessions, and with the help of presenters and participants alike, we established the meaning of terms like ‘equity’ and ‘accessibility’, and launched a discussion on the role of data in furthering mobility equity. Further, we hosted speakers and panelists from both the data producer and data consumer perspective, and learned about the current best practices for collecting, vetting and maintaining multimodal accessibility-first transportation data, as well as the best practices for developing accessible applications that showcase this data. Finally, we heard from folks who may use this data to answer questions within their respective agencies, regarding walkability, active transportation, access to goods and services, etc.
